first things first
1. My mother-in-law hosted a pity party for the ladies in her ward last night and I got to go. In deciding how to dress when attending a pity party -
jeans and a really baggy T-shirt
hair not done
make-up that same as what I'd had on the day before aka: no shower
I looked down and BAM!! I was ready to go.
jeans and really baggy T-shirt (check)
hair not done (check)
make up same as it was yesterday (check)
The only thing more pitiful than a pity party is already looking the part.
. . . so, January 29 - it's your lucky day!! Not many people make their Resolutions on your day - I know I'm a little late, but it's a long story (call me if you really want to know).
I went into the bathroom, looked in the mirror, and said, "Hi, I'm Beckii."
Much to my surprise, hundreds of my reflections (I have mirrors on both walls) said, "Hi, Beckii."
Me: "I have a problem."
Reflections: "We know."
Me: "Why didn't you tell me?"
Reflections: "Trust me, we've tried."
Me: "Okay, okay - it's time - the baby is 4 months old after all."
Reflections: "Repeat after me. I, Beckii Ann Gallup."
Me: "I, Beckii Ann Gallup."
Reflections: "Promise to (at the very least) shower and comb my hair and at least look presentable every single day. I owe it to myself."
Me: "Promise to (at the very least) shower and comb my hair and at least look presentable every single day. I owe it to myself {I added this} and to my husband.
Reflections: "Good thinkin', adding that in there - do we have a deal?"
Me: DEAL!!
One of the saddest conversations I've ever had. Seriously.
#2. [and totally off the subject]
Eric came home for lunch yesterday and surprised me by deciding to have PB & J.
Except, he mentioned he really didn't like jam much, so he'd probably just have the peanut butter.
How dry, I commented. How are you even going to swallow it?
I didn't really think of that, he said and then asked, "So, you just put peanut butter on one side and the jam on the other?"
WAIT? Eeerrch. WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY?
Nope, he's never made his own peanut butter and jelly sandwich.
Wait, that may be the saddest conversation I've ever had.

Just FYI, if Eric doesn't like jam that much he could use butter to make the sandwich less dry. I eat peanut butter and butter sandwiches quite often...they are very tasty. And also, when you discover the secret to your resolution...as in how to get in a shower everyday...please pass it on :)
Hey Beckii,
I am not sure whether to laugh or feel a little worried for your mental state, but I decided to just go with laugh and hope all is well, JK!!! Some times it is hard to get up and get ready for the day and trust me with 4 kids it makes it even harder but you will feel better the whole day and your husband might be able to stand being in the same room as you, just kidding. Have a great weekend.
Love Susan
I don't know where to start with this one.
I definately feel better about myself (and everyone else around me) when I do shower and get ready for the day. But still, there are weeks-days-I meant days- it just does not happen. It's a win-win really, I either got a shower and feel great, or I'll really, really appreciate my shower the next day!
As for the whole pb&j situation, that is very sad. And hard to swallow. Not the sandwhich so much as the fact that Eric has never made one. Really?! Okay, I'll stop there. I did not make jello for the first time until I was a junior (or senior) in highschool. At my boyfriend's house. With his mother. I dumped the entire pot of boiling water into the gelatin instead of measuring it. We had to open an extra box or 2 to make up the difference. Awesome. (This is in no way a reflection on our dear mother. She taught us LOTS of really important stuff!)
Sometimes I eat plain peanut butter sandwhiches. I don't love jam either. This is usually a last resort type of lunch though.
Man this is a long comment. You probably could have showered by now if you stopped reading this after the first paragraph.
I laughed out loud at the one where you added "and to my husband" and your reflection was on board. Good stuff!
First I must say in my own defense-I do know eric has made sandwiches before...ask him about how many pieces of bread it takes if you want 6 sandwiches---and I did teach them the important things...like how to make cookies and scooteroos!
I love HOT WATER and yes you deserve to start your day letting it spray all over you!! can I tell you a secret??? I hear voices in my head to! I just never thought about looking in the mirrow and letting them express themselves though..brave girl.
love yeah mom
